I’m linking up with Random 5 on Friday over at The Pebble Pond today. Enjoy!
My kids have been teaching themselves how to sew because I can’t sew a lick!
We made a really cool fake lung, thanks to Dot-to-Dot Connections.
My kids made an underwater mural. They all love to draw.
Dillon just finished Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator and has now started Cryptid Hunters, which he bought at the library bookstore. It’s actually really good; I read it while he was at his grandma’s.
I’m teaching Devin how to cook…sort of. Hey, you have to start somewhere!
What are five random things you’ve been up to?
I’m with you on the sewing. My daughter does bits and pieces on her own and I’ve promised to help her do things on the machine (a gift from my mum) but I’ve yet to get around to it …
Love the lung. Will have to do that next time we look at the human body.

Just a tip on the lung- do not use a water bottle. They’re too flimsy. You’ll need something stronger. We used an empty Pine-Sol bottle. Soda bottles or juice bottles may work, too.

We used a thicker water bottle – the sparkling flavored kind a thick one from Walmart.

That would work, too!

I can not sew either! My daughters sure can though. Someday maybe they will teach me. 🙂

I’m trying to get my 14 year old to teach me, but we haven’t had time yet.

What a neat idea for the Lung!
And cooking easy things is the way to start.

The lung was really fun. A great activity for visual and hands-on learners. Since I’ve got both, it was a win-win situation.

I’m totally with you as well with not knowing how to sew. Just the basic straight stitch. I do wish to learn more and be able to read a pattern but don’t really know anyone local to teach me.. Maybe someday on my bucket list..

I’m planning on getting a sewing machine that comes with a how-to dvd. Hopefully I’ll figure it out.
