The United States was formed by a population of Christians who were seeking a land where they could worship as they chose. Fast forward a few centuries, and this country has seemingly embraced a worldview completely opposite that which this country was built upon.
Today, Bible-believing Christians all over the U.S. are consistently being told to shut their mouths and “keep their beliefs to themselves,” to the point where even mentioning the name of “Jesus” at a public event becomes a sideshow as lawsuit after lawsuit is filed for things as harmless as nativity scenes. More and more, seasoned Christians are bullied into submission by a small, but vocal, and often belligerent, group of people.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, has authored an inspiring book, No Fear, about the courage of a group of teenagers and young adults who aren’t willing to be silent, no matter the cost. In this book are powerful stories of young people who take on controversial organizations such as Planned Parenthood, the Freedom from Religion Foundation, and the infamous ACLU.
From going undercover to expose illegal practices and deception, to standing for Christ at high school graduation ceremonies, to being willing to give up entire businesses rather than caving to pressure from liberal judges, these stories are enough to give anyone the motivation to stand strong in the faith. Some of these stories have happy endings where justice was served, while others the opposite occurred. Yet, no matter the outcome, each of these individuals exhibits the peace of knowing that they did their very best to remain in God’s will.
As a mom whose kids are growing up in a day and age completely different from that which I grew up in, it can be very easy to get discouraged. This book has given me so much hope and reminds me that everything that happens- EVERYTHING- has been ordained by God.
And, in the end, we know who wins.
