Our 2018/2019 Relaxed Homeschool Curriculum for Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd Grade

I can’t believe it’s that time of year again! Yep, it’s time to share our relaxed homeschool curriculum choices for next year.

Yay!! This is going to be so much fun. 🙂

Since I have so many kids, instead of sharing all of our choices at once, I’m going to break it up into three separate posts: the littles, the middles, and the teens.

Today I’m going to start with my littles, who will be entering Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grade in the upcoming homeschool year.  Continue reading “Our 2018/2019 Relaxed Homeschool Curriculum for Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd Grade”

What If I Don’t Have Enough Patience to Homeschool?

Homeschooling and patience – do they really go hand-in-hand?

Well, the truth is…yes and no.

Yes, it does take quite a bit of patience to not only spend every single day with our children when our society has trained us to be more comfortable with not being around them, but it also requires an enormous amount of patience to take on the responsibility to see to it that our children are learning and thriving.

A Simple Trick to Break the Monotony of Your Homeschool Routine

<This post contains affiliate links.>

Did you ever have the feeling that one homeschool day can seem to blur into the next?

I have. There have been many days I felt as if my children and I were the lead roles in a homeschool-version of Groundhog DayEvery day seemed exactly the same as the one before it.

If you can help your kids with their homework, you can homeschool.

Here’s why.  Continue reading “10 Ways Helping Your Kids with Homework Can Be Harder Than Homeschooling”

Public Education and ADHD – A Question of WHAT IF…

Ever since I took off my kid gloves last week and finally addressed the truth about public education, I have been pondering the question behind why schools do things the way they do.

Take special education, for example – specifically, the education establishment’s approach to children with ADHD.

As a mom to a child who was diagnosed with ADHD when he was in school, I have had firsthand experience with this, but for the sake of time, I won’t be getting into our specific story today. Right now, I’m more concerned with the general treatment of these children in the school setting.  Continue reading “Public Education and ADHD – A Question of WHAT IF…”

How to Use Notebooking with Read-Alouds in Your Homeschool

Have you ever been absolutely sure that you found the missing piece to your homeschool, but you just couldn’t figure out a way to get started?

Believe me, I have been there and done that. For me, that “thing I was looking for” was notebooking.

Although I first started notebooking with my kids last year, I actually had my eye on it for quite some time before that. It looked engaging, practical, and effective – three things that are a must in our large family homeschool. But try as I might, I just couldn’t figure out how to get started. I had a good idea of what it was all about, and I understood the reasoning behind it, but I felt completely lost as to where to begin.  Continue reading “How to Use Notebooking with Read-Alouds in Your Homeschool”
