Sounding the Alarm | My Viewers Give Me Strength

Today’s video is going to be a little bit different. Over the past month or so, I’ve been getting so many encouraging emails from people who watch my channel, and these messages have helped me in so many ways. So…what I decided to do today is to share how I got to where I am – sounding the alarm – about public education. I’m also sharing one specific email I got which is a perfect example of why I do what I do.

I'm Shelly, a Christ-following, homeschooling Mom of eleven children ( okay, not ALL children. My oldest is 23.) I met my husband right after graduation, and we've been together ever since. Though my life can be hectic at times... okay, ALL the time, I wouldn't change it for anything.

  1. Yes! You provide great value! The person who wrote that message spoke for many of us! Don’t give up the fight, there’s too much at stake! Also, I love how you talk about Gatto and how you confront myths and misconceptions and controversial issues about public school and homeschooling. You provide reasons, rational arguments which we can use ourselves as ammunition when we debate someone in real life. Also, I appreciate you showing us the books you use and how you use them. I find your “unconventional”, relaxed approach very interesting and something that Mr.Gatto surely would approve of.
Thank you for everything you do!

  2. I have had my family threatened on multiple occasions and even had CPS called on me by the school before I began homeschooling. It is kinda what made me take the final plunge. If the school cannot find common ground with you so much so that they believe abuse is happening. It is projection plain and simple though when you really come down to it though. My son’s teacher was abusing him by calling him “Marshmallow Cupcake” and “Tiny Dancer” my son was gaining weight at the time. It isn’t ok and it definitely isn’t fair. I couldn’t call CPS on my son’s teacher! He is a father himself! You are right, and keep on keepin on because they are not going to stop!
