Do you have some serious questions about God and the Bible that you don’t know whom to ask (or are afraid to)? Do you have loved ones who may be asking some things that you don’t feel equipped to answer?
Answering the Toughest Questions About God and the Bible, by Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz, just may be the answer to your prayers.
Concerned about the trend in society of young adults falling away from, or never finding, their faith, the authors decided to ask people in that particular generation to write down any questions they have about faith- anything. After collecting the results, they took the ten most common questions and collaborated to create a resource with clear and honest answers. Among the questions addressed are:
-Is God real, and how can you know?
-Why did God create us?
-Can I trust what the Bible says about God?
-Why does God seem so violent while Jesus is so loving?
-Why do Christians say Jesus is the only way to God?
-And more!
As a mom of teenagers who are naturally beginning their questioning phase, I am so glad to have this in my possession. So many of the same questions my kids pose to me that I fumble over are covered in this book.
Bickel and Jantz did an amazing job of answering these inquiries truthfully, yet graciously and without condescension. Even seasoned Christians could learn something from the way these authors have explained the tough questions about God and the Bible without acting as if people should know better than to ask such things.
The only downside I found in this book was in the chapter that addresses whether we can trust what the Bible says about God. As someone who is immensely interested in apologetics, I felt that some more time could have been spent going into why the Bible is a reliable resource. I was a bit disappointed in that it seemed as if this question were almost addressed as if the questioner already validated the Bible, but that is not often the case.
All in all, though, I found this book to be enlightening, optimistic, and full of God’s Truth. The only Truth.
I highly recommend this book to any parent with a child approaching (or already in) the teen years. Speaking from experience, I’m sure it will come in handy for you. This book would also be an excellent gift for someone who is actively seeking answers about God. What a loving gift it would be to present them with the opportunity to learn more about God’s rescue plan for the world!
Disclaimer- I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have another Bruce & Stan book that’s similar that I really enjoyed when I got/read it about twenty years ago – I might have to check this one out, too!

I’m pretty sure it was this book: http://amzn.to/2gx4zOY but I’m not positive and my husband’s in the bedroom sleeping, so I can’t check the bookcase. 😛 It was fun to read, though!
